Not surprisingly, Social Media jobs are on the rise and likely will only keep getting hotter. Frankly I am encouraged by this because I’m a big believer in the potential of Social Media, but I’m afraid bad marketers could kill it. We need experts that really understand the space and the communities so that brands can start talking with consumers, not just talking at them. The landscape of marketing is going to be forever changed over the next several years and experts in TV and Print are not going to be in demand. Instead, Brand Building experts will be those that understand New Media and Social Medai. I have seen some great brands start to embrace this with Levi’s looking for a 21st Century Media Brand Manager a couple of months ago and P&G staffing our own Social Media Lab.
